POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for providing a wide range of benefit administration, compliance and HRIS support in a multi-specialty physician healthcare organization.  Works closely with the VP, Human Resources to develop and recommend various company benefit strategies, including all retirement plan activities, leaves of absence and general HR compliance requirements.  Manages HRIS and benefit databases, provides budget analysis, and ensures timely delivery of related services. Manages Benefits and Compensation for several Spectrum Management Services Company clients. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Serve as the internal subject matter expert on benefits and compensation compliance, ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations. 

  2. Provides and coordinates all benefits program administration and assists with strategic development; group & self-insurance offerings, retirement plan, FSA & HSA plans, COBRA, employee assistance, and leave & time off programs including FMLA, ADA and workers compensation. 

  3. Serves as principal contact with Company’s broker and various benefit vendors to maintain relationships and resolve employee issues. 

  4. Manages Benefits Committee meetings. 

  5. Collaborates cross-functionally with Finance, Payroll, and HR teams to ensure seamless execution of total rewards programs. 

  6. Oversee benefit changes, enrollments, terminations, including all correspondence with benefit carriers and employees. 

  7. Verifies and facilitates group insurance premium activity. 

  8. Reviews and assists with establishing annual benefit budget information. 

  9. Retirement plan coordination, administrative oversight and assist with strategic development including managing the Retirement Committee meetings. 

  10. Directs the preparation and distribution of benefit training and education.  Ensures appropriate program updates.  

  11. Develops and delivers clear employee communications to promote understanding and effective use of benefits.  

  1. Interfaces with administrative, clinical and physician employees to answer questions regarding benefit programs, retirement plans and leaves of absence. 

  1. Coordinates all benefit related information to be distributed and updated via the Company’s HR Hub. 

  1. Designs, evaluates and recommends benefit policy modifications to ensure that programs are current, competitive and in compliance with legal requirements. 

  1. Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, etc.) and oversees annual filings such as Form 5500 and nondiscrimination testing. 

  1. Designs, manages, and maintains compensation structures, including salary ranges, pay grades, and incentive programs. 

  1. Conducts annual market benchmarking to ensure external competitiveness and internal equity across clinical, administrative, and leadership roles. 

  1. Oversees the annual merit and bonus processes, including budget development, communication, and manager training. 

  1. Advises leaders on pay decisions, job evaluations, and market adjustments. 

  1. Supports compensation analysis related to physician and provider agreements as needed. 

  1. Maintains appropriate level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding department material and information. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops value added (supplemental benefits) programs for employees. 

  • Ensures benefit policies and procedures are routinely updated and communicated. 

  • Demonstrates professionalism at all times 

  • Supports the Company’s Vision and Values. 

  • Serves on committees and workgroups, as requested. 

  • Participates in strategic planning initiatives 

  • Takes, prepares and delivers related committee meeting agendas, minutes and summary information 

  • Engages in appropriate professional or specialty organizations through membership and attendance at local meetings.    

  • Displays cooperative behavior and interacts positively and effectively with others to promote a team environment 

  • Performs other duties necessary to maintain the overall efficiency and continuity of the HR function. 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Degree in human resources, business administration or related field, or equivalent in relevant years of experience 

  • 10+ years’ benefit administration, compensation, human resources or other related experience 

  • Previous management experience 

  • Experience and knowledge of HRIS, ADP preferred 

  • Knowledge and understanding of HR processes and procedures 

  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations and filing and compliance requirements affecting employee benefit programs including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers compensation, and DOL 

  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team 

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills 

  • High level of initiative and attention to detail 

  • Strong analytical, presentation, negotiation, communication and detail-oriented skills with a keen focus on accuracy 

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality 

  • Ability to work and make decisions independently and collaboratively 

  • Proficient computer skills
