About Partners in Care: Partners In Care Maryland, Inc. (PIC) is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to empower older adults to age in community through a unique culture of service exchange. Established in 1993, PIC provides neighborly, niche services such as transportation, handyman repairs, and case management to ensure that our older neighbors continue to age in their own homes safely, independently, and with dignity.

Position Summary:

Partners in Care is seeking a talented and experienced Grant Writer to join our dynamic team. The Grant Writer will be responsible for securing private and public funding by researching, writing, and submitting compelling proposals and grant applications. The ideal candidate will be a meticulous researcher, a persuasive storyteller, and a strategic partner in helping our organization meet its fundraising goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Grant research and strategy: Identify, research, and evaluate new funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies that align with our mission and programs.
  • Proposal development: Write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents tailored to the requirements of each funding opportunity.
  • Funder relationships: Assist in cultivating and stewarding relationships with grant funders by drafting acknowledgment letters and communicating program updates.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with program directors, finance staff, and leadership to gather necessary information, data, and stories for proposals and reports.
  • Grant calendar management: Develop and maintain a grants calendar to track deadlines for proposals, reports, and other grant-related activities.
  • Reporting and compliance: Prepare, track and submit all required grant reports, ensuring compliance with funder guidelines and demonstrating the impact of funded projects.
  • Database management: Track all grant activities, contacts, and outcomes in a database.
  • Represent PIC in meetings, site visits, events (both internal and external), as well as via phone conversations.
  • Other duties that may be assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Computer proficiency: Strong computer skills, including experience with donor databases, Microsoft Office Suite and Google.
  • Passion for the mission: A genuine passion for the nonprofit's mission and the ability to convey its importance to potential funders.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as English, Communications, Marketing, or Nonprofit Management.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in grant writing, preferably within the nonprofit sector, with a proven track record of securing grants.
  • Exceptional writing skills: Ability to craft clear, concise, and persuasive narratives that clearly articulate the organization's mission and programs.
  • Strong research skills: Proficiency in using grant databases (e.g., Foundation Directory Online, Grants.gov) and other research tools to identify appropriate funding sources.
  • Attention to detail: A high level of accuracy in managing data, adhering to complex grant guidelines, and proofreading.
  • Time management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Interpersonal skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with various internal and external stakeholders.
