Job Description



AECOM  is seeking an  Interior Design Intern  to be based in  Roanoke, Virginia .

Internships at AECOM offer students in undergraduate and graduate programs the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in engineering, design, and infrastructure projects that make a real-world impact. Interns work with cutting-edge technology, learn industry’s best practices, and collaborate with experienced professionals in a globally recognized firm. The program fosters both technical and professional skill development while providing networking opportunities that can enhance future career prospects. Additionally, AECOM’s dedication to innovation and sustainability enables interns to contribute to meaningful projects that help shape communities and the built environment.

This position is expected to begin in Summer 2026.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs a variety of assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out tasks.
  • Performs entry level work. 
  • Follows instructions to accomplish tasks assigned by senior staff. 
  • Meets required schedules while producing quality work.

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Interior Design or Interior Architecture or related field and must have completed at least 2 years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship 
  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required for this role.

:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience in project construction documentation using Revit.
  • Proficient in SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suites products, or other related graphic software.
  • Some knowledge of project design and construction documentation and materials.
  • Ability to work on multiple fast-paced projects.
  • Ability to follow directions and manage specific tasks to completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Portfolio submission required to demonstrate skill set.

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • This is a summer internship position.
