HNTB is looking for a creative and technically sound engineer who is ready to be challenged and work as a task lead in our growing Traffic and ITS group. Scope of support includes forecasting, signal design, operational improvements, ITS/ATMS design/implementation and connected vehicle projects. The ideal candidate will coordinate efforts with the Traffic Engineering and ITS team to deliver quality work, on time, on budget and to the client’s satisfaction on every project. They will serve as a technical liaison for clients such as GDOT, City of Atlanta, Gwinnett County, Cobb County, MARTA, and others. May mentor, train and review work of junior engineer staff and provide constructive feedback.
What You'll Do:
Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.
Assist in the development of project specifications.
Responsible for development of discipline specific engineering project elements/deliverables such as reports, designs, and plans.
Aids in the coordination and productivity of project team members.
Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineering project team members.
Works closely with other disciplines and on multi-discipline projects.
Performs quality control reviews of discipline - specific engineering project elements/deliverables.
Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within discipline.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience, or
Master’s degree in Engineering and 3 year of relevant experience, or
PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience
Primary Focus Will Include:
Develop Traffic Forecasts and lead technical and quality review of Forecast submittals
Develop micro-simulation models appropriate to specific project needs, including: VISSIM, Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS
Conduct Traffic Analysis including Transportation Impact Studies
Design Traffic Signal, Signing and Marking, and ITS Plans
Support Emerging Technologies, Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Programs
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Master’s degree in Engineering
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
Professional Engineer (PE) certification
PTOE certification
Experience with ITS design and transportation systems management and operations (TSM&O) tools
Proficient in Synchro Analysis tools
VISSIM, HCS, and GIS knowledge
